The development of the oncology service in Kazakhstan has increased the rates of early diagnosis and patient survival, Minister of Health Akmaral Alnazarova said at a meeting of the board of the Ministry of Health, Kazinform.

According to her, malignant neoplasms remain the second leading cause of death, and therefore the country continues to modernize infrastructure and expand the availability of high-tech treatment.
In November 2025, a proton therapy center was opened on the basis of a new cancer center in Astana, where 38 patients are already undergoing treatment. Two new PET/CT centers were commissioned in Kyzylorda and Aktau — the total number of such centers in the country reached 16, 280 diagnostic tests were performed.
Expert endoscopic centers have been opened in all regions. In 2025, more than 15 thousand diagnostic tests were carried out, which is 5% more compared to the previous period, as well as 4.5 thousand therapeutic interventions.
According to the Ministry, the implementation of these measures has made it possible to achieve a sustainable improvement in the key indicators of cancer care.
